ATTENTION: If you plan on purchasing exclusive items from the show (custom and limited edition toys) you must have a line ticket. Line tickets will be passed out starting at 12PM Noon on Saturday. Ticket numbers will be random, so no need to wait in line! Just show up at 12 to get your ticket and make sure you’re back at the gallery at 6PM to ensure your proper place in line.

Toy Art Gallery is proud to team with Japanese vinyl toy mavericks SECRET BASE to present “Japanese Devil”, opening Saturday July 7th. This is Secret Base’s first-ever West Coast exhibition and they are bringing the heat with an enormous assortment of exclusive vinyl toys, prints, art, apparel, and more! Hiddy of Secret Base and Hiroshi and the THREE TIDES TATTOO crew will be in attendance making this an opening not to be missed!

Toy Art Gallery is proud to present “TxB” featuring the work of T9G and Bwana Spoons. “TxB”, as the title suggests, has Bwana and T9G customizing, designing, and mashing each other’s signature characters together in a host of mediums including paintings, murals, toys, and more!
This concept extends to production as well, as “TxB” marks the debut of the three unique vinyl figures co-designed by Bwana and T9G (who also sculpted) and produced by Toy Art Gallery!
TxB also features individual work from the artists including a new black and white zine from Bwana and a life-size Rangeas from T9G.
Bwana and T9G descend on TAG in person for the “TxB” opening on Saturday , May 26th from 7-11 PM. with a DJ, drinks, and more. Join us at Toy Art Gallery’s new showroom located at 7571 Melrose Ave. Hollywood CA 90046. “TxB” runs through June 9th.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Hi, my name is Bwana Spoons. I am a painter, and half jack of many other trades. I heart trees, moss, and monsters. I make toys, and design shoes, bust the occasional illustration, or work on an installation. I make art. I own and run Grass Hut Art Market based in Portland Oregon. GH is a little gallery and retail space showcasing both local and global arts.
My clientele includes- Foundation Skateboards, Hurley, Converse, Dekline, Bumbleride, Threadless Select, Hessenmob, Gargamel, Super7, DC Shoe Company, and a host of others.
I have shown my arts in various corners of the earth including- Artoyz- Paris, Thrashout, Hurley Space Tokyo- Tokyo, Double Punch, 111 Minna, Super 7- San Francisco, Giant Robot, Switcheroo, TAG, Gallery 1988, Hurley Space, La Luz- Los Angeles, Subtext- San Diego, Atticus Gallery- Barcelona, Concrete Hermit- London, Motel, Compound, Grass Hut- Portland, Roq la Rue- Seattle, Outre Gallery- Sidney, Max Fish, GRNY- New York, and a pile of other places I forget.
Most recently I have worked on a few large murals and installations with Hurley in Los Angeles and Tokyo. That is fun.
T9G is a figure creator based in Tokyo.
His backbone as a toy figure sculptor allows him to create his own figure.
Uses doll eyes as an icon of his work.
Creates his original world into figures.
T9G’s work is exhibited at LOVELESS Character Aoyama, Tokyo, SFT National Art Center Tokyo (on display and for sale), “The Lobby” in the Hankyu Department Store Umeda, Osaka (solo), SILAS & MARIA (Joint Exhibition), minorityrev (exhibition) exhibition, and many others all over the world
