Calliope in Red Glitter Sofubi by Kathie Olivas is made in Japan. Comes loose in a bag and stands approximately 7.5" tall. Kathie Olivas is a multi-media story artist who lives with her artist husband, Brandt Peters. As a kid, she began sketching portraits and discovered an extraordinary enthusiasm for constructing a world from her imagination that did not exist in her own reality, frequently inspired by her connection with the alter ego and reflected of her own experiences with a rare genetic disease. Her art has investigated society's unquenchable urge to ascribe 'cuteness,' as well as our apprehension of the unfamiliar. Her paintings and sculptures, a dark combination of early American portraiture set in post-apocalyptic periods, are a satirical look at how terror influences our perception of reality.
