Giant Plastic Gloomy Bear Pink - Taito
Giant Plastic Gloomy Bear Pink by Taito. Original tags, stands about 15" tall.
Mori Chack, a Japanese graphic designer, is arguably best known for his work on Gloomy Bear, a huge, pink, vicious bear that attacks people and symbolizes Chack's view that people and animals cannot coexist because they are wild by nature.
Chack started off as a street artist, peddling his own character postcards and stickers on the streets of his native Osaka. His other works include Kumakikai, a robotic Gloomy Bear with rockets for feet, and Podolly, the iconic sheep disguised as a wolf. Chack's signature deceptively adorable characters convey his own brand of scathing comedy and criticism on the paradoxes and societal problems in the world. He is presently residing in Tokyo.
