His paintings go into the world of vintage "Pop" memorabilia, Victorian toys, and old cartoons from before World War I—all inspiration drawn from his upbringing in an artistic and antiquarian family. This society, with its eerie sideshow symbols, bizarre Animalia, and "masked" glorified cartoon alter egos, is the complete opposite of all that is conventionally considered harmless and socially acceptable. Along with his two dogs, Bailey and Diego, and his spouse and business partner, Kathie Olivas, Brandt resides and works in New Mexico.
