Nickle Plated Angles by Dalek. Published by Ginko Press in 2003, this hardback has 104 pages full of James Marshall a.k.a. Dalek's drawings, illustrations, photographs, and graffiti work. James Marshall is best known for his Space Monkey figure, a bizarre, vaguely humanoid mouse that he would represent in an array of vibrant colors in perverse scenarios, frequently wielding a butcher's cleaver. Space Monkey combines animation, Japanese pop art, and an urban aesthetic. Up until 2007, when he started creating exclusively in an abstract manner, Marshall, who worked under the moniker Dalek, used the Space Monkey mascot to communicate his thoughts. Marshall describes his two years working as Takashi Murakami's assistant as a formative experience. Takashi Murakami is a controversial Japanese artist, and Marshall has long been involved with the skateboard and graffiti subcultures.
