I Cari Estinti - Marion Peck
I Cari Estinti by Marion Peck Exhibition book from Marion Peck's March 2006 exhibition at Mondo Bizzarro Gallery in Rome, Italy. This catalog is published by Mondo Bizzarro Gallery. It is 7" x 9", 64 pages and perfect bound. Introduction, by Roberto Dal Bosco, and artist statement are written in both Italian and English. The paintings of Marion Peck serve as prime examples of Pop Surrealism since they are filled with odd characters, such as smug clowns and guileless kittens. Peck obtained her MFA from Syracuse University, and her narrative paintings are a reflection of her art education in Italy, where she was surrounded by Renaissance painters' works. Her paintings have a muted color scheme that gives off a nostalgic vibe, yet they also inhabit a strange world that is devoid of conventions and laws. With their hybrid monsters, pop-culture inspirations, and sporadically overt political references, Peck's settings can be seen as subliminal expressions or modern mythology.
